I'm not using it personally, however there is a
company called Igel (Germany) with a US division
(IgelUSA) that make X terminals ("Ethermulation" series)
        and some "etherterminal" products.

They apparently have a proprietary DoC (Disk on Chip)
drivers which they use to embed a small Linux
distribution with X, Java, and/or ICA ("Hydra" or
        NT Terminal Server crap) packages.

Their "thin client" (and Xterminal and character
etherterminal) packages are priced at about the same as
the Cobalt Micro "Qube" and the Corel Computing Netwinder
series (which are also embedded Linux products).

I'm not personally involved in any of these. However,
        Here are some URL's:

                http://www.igelusa.com
                http://www.cobaltmicro.com
                http://www.corelcomputer.com

Igel's products are x86 based with flash/DoC technology
--- Corel Computing's NC is built around a StrongARM
CPU while Cobalt Micro's Qube's are MIPS based.

I'm providing these so you can contact them if they are
sufficiently "embedded" to match your criteria.

        Not personally.

My guess would be that most of them are rolling their
own, using LRP or tomsrtbt (Tom Oehser, http://www.toms.net)
        as a base.

I'd love to hear the answer to these two questions.

You're welcome to use my name --- but I'm not much
of a reference in this case.

That it amazes me how much interest Linux (and
FreeBSD/NetBSD) are generating in the embedded
market. These are not "lightweight" systems.

I'd expect to see a really good Forth with a
decent TCP/IP implementation just kick ass in the
market --- if anyone ever bothered to write a free
one (and some tools to allow it to be self-hosted).
