I don't actually know what was not clear:
1) using ramdisk
- Compile Ramdisk support into kernel
- Use block devices /dev/ram, /dev/ram[0-7] for ram disk(s).
E.g:
mkfs.minix /dev/ram 1440
mount /dev/ram /mnt/ramdisk
..

2) implementation in kernel:
- It reserves buffer_heads for storing the blocks of ramdisk.
It is marked as protected so it won't be freed [unless ramdisk driver does
it itself].. It is not swappable actually.
