It's interesting that machines this small should be the current topic,
although I have in mind something bigger.

Any suggestions on a platform for a car computer? I want to put a
Linux box in my new Volvo (ok, so it's an 85; it's new to _me_.

If I remove the ashtray and lighter pocket there's room behind the
shifter for about an 8" touchscreen LCD. I'll need A/D and D/A, as
well as some relay closure stuff, some way to drive the LCD and touch
panel, and a few serial ports (WinRadio external, GPS receiver, Packet
modem, CDPD radio, etc.

It needs to mount on the trunk side of the firewall, about where the
cellphone would otherwise go, deal with crappy power without dying (a
small battery to float the supply would be optimal, be shock resistant,
and like that.

An ethernet interface would go over real nice at tailgate parties, too. :-)

All suggestions welcome; as this isn't _strictly_ "embedded", please
reply direct, I'll summarize, if anyone else cares. This _will_, of
course, end up on the web, if I get it done... (like you think I could
resist? :-)

Cheers,
