Okay I'm trying to build a wearable computer.
...sorta...
Anyways what's out there for this kind of project?
I suspect you'd need some form of display (those VGA monocles look good
but 320x240 is pretty low res), some form of input (USB?) and maybe some
way to hook up to other systems (100mbit ethernet and PCMCIA... wavelan is
yer friend :)
So core:
VGA
USB
10/100 Ethernet
PCMCIA
processor:
core == something fast. 400+mhz pref.
no brand is irrelevent to me as long as relatively low
power and fast *grin*
RAM: core == lots. At least 64mb.
Storage:Enough to run system. Ideas?
Power: probably a battery unit that could be plugged in.
I'd also -love- to split into multiple components. Running the display
off of a 68K board really wouldn't bother me for example :)
[as long as I can communicate with it]
-> USB would be great here. There's USB video IIRC.... Or at least some
of the head-mount stuff is...
Incidentally is there such a beast as a low-power ethernet hub? or USB
hub for that matter?
Oh I'm not concerned about available software. All I need is a linux
kernel.... oh, and glibc. I know very little about RT-linux though as
the last time I looked at it was ~1995... I think...
(I could work without glibc but it would take me longer...)
G'day, eh? :)
- Teunis
PS: yes I'm looking for costs too... but mostly just to figure out how
much this would take to build. It's fun :)
