We've been using Sandisk compact flashes in a product for the last year, and
have yet to have any problems with wearing. In fact, Sandisk claim to have
almost unlimited write endurance and therefore do not even implement wear
levelling.
We do not however perform logging to the compact flash, just writes to
persistent configuration, and we also switch off access time when mounting
filesystems to reduce the number of writes (just to be safe).
