is it possible that u have installed the hard drive into the other system on a different ide or scsi channel?

That way ur root partition is on a different device i.e. switched from hda3 to hdc3 and that way it can't be mounted, reboot ur computer using a bootdisc and reinstall ur lilo, using the right root partition in ur /etc/lilo.conf that shall fix the problem, described below.

(it seems to me that this is the error, when reading the error output provided....)

With kind regards,
Hans van Gent

Subject: Problem with mounting of file system during bootup.

Hi ,
I have two Pentium systems with identical configuration .

I installed Linux 6.2 in one system. It is working fine. I removed the hard disk from the system and connected the same
to the second system and tried to boot

I am getting  the following error after auto RUN

Kernel Panic: Unable to Mount root FS.

Is it not possible to use the same image, built on one  system, to boot from another similar system ( system with identical             configuration).
