:-/ It looks like it gets most of the way there - modulo what look like harmless errors (given that the mke2fs, etc works) - and then is not writing a complete fstab.
How's your Perl? Do you think you can debug the script with `perl -d'? My refactoring saw (I hoped) some improvements in the readability of the code, so it should be a bit easier.
I have very little experience with Perl - I work with Python - but if you tell me, how the correct fstab should look like in this case, I can try to find out.
