Hello, yesterday I upgraded my FAI packages from Cologne to 3~beta21. On my install server, I have:
# COLUMNS=132 dpkg -l '*fai*' Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-===========================-===========================-====================================================================== un fai <none> (no description available) ii fai-client 3~beta21 Fully Automatic Installation client package ii fai-doc 3~beta21 Documentation for FAI ii fai-kernels 1.12 special kernels for FAI (Fully Automatic Installation) in fai-nfsroot 2.10.1 (no description available) ii fai-quickstart 2.10.5 Fully Automatic Installation quickstart package ii fai-server 3~beta21 Fully Automatic Installation server package Now there's a problem building the NFSROOT: # make-fai-nfsroot ... many messages, and then: Building database of manual pages ... ifupdown.postinst: Warning: No 'iface lo' definition found in /etc/network/interfaces ifupdown.postinst: Warning: No 'auto lo' statement found in /etc/network/interfaces Looking for keymap to install: NONE Looking for keymap to install: NONE umount: /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot/dev/pts: not mounted umount: /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot/dev/shm: not mounted umount: /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot/proc/bus/usb: not mounted Creating base.tgz Upgrading /usr/lib/fai/nfsroot E: Couldn't find package fai-nfsroot ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What's that? I can easily download such a package using apt, but I don't know why the setup program can't, or what else might be the problem (iow, I didn't read the source yet). Best, --Toni++
