Here's a simple solution for getting fai-cd work again on etch. Add the following line to your sources.list
deb http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download etch koeln then aptitude install mkinitrd-cd Call fai-cd. That's all? Yes. What does it do? It installs the mkinird-cd package and all additional needed packages from sarge onto your etch installserver. I've copied these deb files into the FAI package repository. mkinitrd-cd_0.52_i386.deb uclibc-toolchain_0.9.27-1_i386.deb libuclibc-dev_0.9.27-1_i386.deb libuclibc0_0.9.27-1_i386.deb Hint: If your installation from fai-cd is slow, check if DMA mode is enabled for your CD-ROM and hard disk. You may need to add some kernel driver into the mkinitrd config. -- regards Thomas
