Hi, I'm currently doing some experiments with fai (3.2.1) on Ubuntu hardy (8.04) Alpha 4.
a) A minor issue: It seems that Ubuntu feisty is still referred to in some files: /etc/fai/make-fai/nfsroot.conf: FAI_DEBOOTSTRAP="hardy http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu" /etc/fai/apt/sources.list: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted universe multiverse The line referring to ppa.launchpad.net needs to be commented out as live-initramfs seems to be part of hardy already. b) But then a major problem arises to which I don't have any idea at all: The client is booting successfully the kernel but when trying to mount the config space it comes to a number of errors and the installation process end in a shell prompt: [...] Calling task_confdir Kernel parameters: initd=initrd.img-2.6.24-5-generic ip=dhcp root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=/srv/fai/hardy-nfsroot boot=live FAI_FLAGS=verbose,sshd,createvt FAI_ACTION=install BOOT_IMAGE=vmlinuz-2.6.24-5-generic Reading /var/log/fai/current/boot.log /usr/lib/fai/subroutines-linux: line 68: /etc/syslog.conf: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/auth.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/syslog: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/daemon.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/kern.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/lpr.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/mail.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/user.log: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/mail.info: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/mail.warn: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/mail.err: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/debug: Permission denied syslogd: /var/log/messages: Permission denied syslogd: /dev/xconsole: No such file or directory /usr/lib/fai/create_resolv_conf: 18: cannot create /etc/resolv.conf: Permission denied /usr/lib/fai/create_resolv_conf: 18: cannot create /etc/resolv.conf: Permission denied FAI_FLAGS: verbose sshd createvt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on l62:/srv/fai/config, missing codepage or helper program, or other error (for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, clifs) you might need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program) In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so WARNING: directory /var/lib/gai/config/class not found. Problems accessing the config space. Save log files via rsh to [EMAIL PROTECTED]:l57/install- rcp: /var/log/fai/current/logfifo: not a plain file bash: no job control in this shell [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# When trying to mount something by hand (the hardy repository for example) again the mount error message like above appears: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# mount ls1:/opt/ubuntu /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on l62:/srv/fai/config, missing codepage or helper program, or other error (for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, clifs) you might need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program) In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# Any idea what is (not) happening?
