that seems to be the case, anyway as i know what fai-chboot does now i can go and do it by hand.Most probably you've been hit by the issue reported here:http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495535 But you seem to have worked around it anyway :-) Best, Michael
