How can I get more information on what's going on from install_packages? Is there a better way besides set -x and echo?

There's something fishy going on and I don't know what triggers it. During a Debian installation i_p tries to call yast and install kernel-xenpae. The only time this package is mentioned in my config space is in package_config/DEFAULT - but in a way that it should never be regarded as "must install this" for Debian (or Ubuntu).
