Where should I be looking for a libg++ 2.7.2.x that builds on Linux?

I just heard about HP's WebJetAdmin release for Linux, and as we have
dozens of HP printers here I'd really like to administer them from my
office. Unfortunately the install bombs with complaints that turned out
to be about missing libraries. For some reason my libg++.so insists that
it is version 27.2.1, and the loader and its buddies are determined not to
see any links or outright copies I might make calling it libg++.so.2.7.2.
Of course HP only supplied binaries. So I need to build a new libg++ with
the right version number. The stock 2.7.2 kit from FSF doesn't build a
shareable library at all so that didn't help.

You're going to ask what distribution I'm running. The answer is
Slackware 1.2 (yes, one dot two) but just about everything has been
replaced so you could call it StupidMarkWare 0.1 if you wanted to. :-)

Thanks!

just one more silly change to cope with.
