solved (at least for me).
It seems "ConfigureMe bootstrap" is needed to create py-compile and to
detect the version change. "ConfigureMe package" does not detect that.
Good.
The bootstrap option should only be needed if building from CVS, and not
from tar ball -- or so I think ;-)
