These changes are supposed to finally make their way upstream into the next kernel revision, I understand. If you wish to help, I think the ocfs2-devel mailing list would be delighted. It's a shame it took so long, but there were some issues to discuss upstream, as always - our intent always was to merge these back. We hate carrying out-of-tree patches, it's a costly thing to do ...
