The problem is not the subnets, the main problem is that you need *at 
least* two separate network connections (or a serial line cable) between 
the hosts.
This is absolutely necessary to avoid "split-brain" scenarios - if the 
only link fails, both servers will happily declare themselves active. So 
if you have several physical cables between the buildings, you should 
have no problems.
