Ugh. I don't have such a machine available since quite some time 8-)
Chances are that another driver produces interrupt latencies that
are too long for the baycom ser12 driver (which is definitely very picky
about
this, this is a design issue of the modem)

NB: 2.2 has 2 baycom ser12 drivers which employ different
receiving methods.

Yeah, short frames have a higher probability of getting through.
