Because 2.2.X smokes... I upgraded from 2.0.3X kernels to 2.2.X and I
saw a NOTICEABLE change in speed... programs loaded faster... system
load was down... stability was premium.
My linux box is used for more than just AX25 stuff, I run a webserver,
listservs, it is also a dns. Speed is a premium, and with 2.2.x, I got
it.
Also, my main interface for AX25 has been TNOS for the last couple of
years. Since TNOS is a dead project, I wanted to switch to something
that was supported. No offense to Brian Lantz, but TNOS was never
really documented, and it was a real pain to configure.
The new AX25 stuff with the separate AX25 lib really shows some
promise.
It's pretty stable (once you figure out how to get it working).
I don't know if my experience is the rule or the exception, but I hope
that gives at least some reason to switch to a 2.2 kernel.
