Hi,
I have the same computer you have so I can tell you that the video card is
supported by RH 6.0.
It's not easy to configure and actually I'm working on it. I know that it's
possible. I don't have any experience with the sound card but I hope it's
possible too.

I use CDMaker to close the session in windows.

Finally I can fixate the disc in Linux, what I need to do is to write once,
then run cdeject to eject the CDR, then force fixate again with cdrecord.

I've been having some troubles configuring my Voodoo3 2000 AGP to run in
Caldera OpenLinux 2.2, and I was hoping someone here could lend a helping
hand. I've downloaded all of the appropriate RPMS from the xxxglidexxx
site (the Device RPM, Glide RPM, XF86Setup RPM, Rush RPM, and X Server
RPM), yet I am having problems installing them with kpackage. I can
install the Device RPM, the Rush RPM and the X Server RPM, but when it
comes to the XF86Setup update, I am getting failed dependencies errors.
The filenames being returned are "libtcl.so" and "libtk.so." Here comes
the cute part: these files are "somewhat" installed in the /usr/lib (I
think) directory. I say "somewhat" because these two files are shortcuts
pointing to newer versions of tickle and company (namely,
libtcl.8.0.4.so,etc. [I think, again]). Since Caldera OpenLinux obviously
uses a different version of tickle than the 3dfx drivers were created for,
I need help. If anyone here knows of a workaround, it would be greatly
appreciated. Many thanks.

The Lexmark 3200 is a "doorstop" -- it uses a proprietary

work with Linux.
See the Printing HOWTO for more details of this sort.

I just got a Quantum Fireball 13.6GB disk, intending to
use it all for Linux systems. But neither fdisk nor
cfdisk will allow me to use more than 8GB.

I've heard of people using even bigger disks
successfully, but I don't know how they did it. Is it
worth trying to partition it with <gag> win98 or OS/2,
and then see if fdisk will cooperate? Any other ideas
are very welcome.

I'm using Red Hat 5.2, and the disk is on /hda (primary
IDE master). The BIOS is very recent (99/4).

I'd like to use xcdroast as the program to write my CD's, so I installed
the generic scsi support in my Suse 6.2 2.2.10-kernel. With this kernel
I couldn't
boot the system. Then I compiled the generic scsi support as a module.
With "insmod sg" I load the module and then I started xcdroast. After
perhaps 30 sec. the system crashed again.

Any help is appreciated,

I recently installed Linux 6.0, and have been getting along with it
relatively nicely with one major exception. I can't get any sound. I
can't even find where to add a sound card driver or change settings. My

Linux's compatibility list, but c'mon... its Sound Blaster... I thought
for sure some one would have a driver for Live! or that at least one of
the sound blaster drivers would work.

My question is... how do I install a driver for my Sound Blaster, and
where do I find one for Live! if it exists. Has anyone else tried to use
Live! with linux?

You may be using a newer controller which requires one of the
drivers which you can get here:
http://www.advansys.com/support/software/os/linux.htm
But, this is probably not the case since you have a newer
kernel which already includes the newest driver.
You may want to try passing variables when you load the module.
This will scan four ports:
insmod advansys.o asc_iopflag=1 \
asc_ioport=0x110,0x210,0x230,0x330
Read /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/advansys.c for further
explanation. When you compile your kernel make sure you have
scsi support, and scsi disk support enabled as well as advansys
support. Since the module was actually found with lsmod, this
may be the culprit. This would also be a good time to read the
SCSI-HOWTO.
If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Advansys. It may
not hurt to see if this controller and drive are actually
working under M$ (Windows). Did you properly put the
controller on your motherboard and is the drive plugged into
the controller correctly?
