if you boot from SCSI, I sugest you switch to 2.2.4, lots of stuff in
the SCSI drivers has changed.
if you boot IDE and then scsi is for extra stuff, try to experiment with
SCSI and aic7xxx as a loadable module. another thing to try is add the
no_reset option, maybe it will boot smoother through that stage.
