Hi, Dorit
Let's discuss the following situations:
1. We use two bytes for one chinese character, but I have no idea
about hebrew characters.
2. Cxwin was a hack work in Xlib, and some Linux users use it
to see chinese character within the whole X environment.
Right now Cxwin is seldom applied.
3. No matter which method we apply to see chinese, we have to
enable a character input program to type the two-bytes characters.
Most popular input program here is called 'xcin', X chinese input.
4. xa+cv is a wrapper program to bring us the chinese-enabled
X environment. It's quite a popular method here for chinese
Linux users. But sometimes it may cause other unexpected problem.
5. Guys from the CLE (Chinese Linux Extension) team are working along
with the new XIM server/client implement, that is expected to be
a better solution meeting the need of X standard.
The whole beta package set is called CLE 0.9 pre-release, with
source code in it.
With xa+cv program and xcin, we can display and input chinese
characters in netscape, including the search engine's text field.
Even printing is ok via bg5ps filter program.
