Hmm. The scars left by dufferential SCSI cables don't seem to be too
deep. Are we too cultured?

In the foot? Tired of Silicon Valley, Ira? Welcome back.

Help people who are new to Linux but oldtimers to RTFM? Does this
remove the contradiction?

Ugh? Vadik, not from you! The following brief bio (from
http://www.zdstudios.com/opensource/key.html) for other uninitialized
is somewhat outdated - I believe Mr. Hall left DEC/Compaq for VA
Research.

                         John "Maddog" Hall
                         Executive Director
                         Linux International

In 1983 Mr. Hall left Bell Laboratories to join the UNIX group at
Digital Equipment Corporation. Over the past 15 years Jon has been an
engineer, product manager, and marketing manager for Digital UNIX
products. Mr. Hall is active in promoting the Linux operating system,
which is a freely distributable re-implementation of the UNIX
operating system. He also was instrumental in having Linux ported to
the Alpha system. Linux International is a non-profit organization
dedicated promoting the use of Linux. Digital was the first system
vendor to join Linux International, and is a Sponsoring Corporate
Member.
