As far as I understood, the new license doesn't cover the 1.2.5,
which all my patches are based on. Like more than 90% of Motif
applications, I didn't migrate to 2.0 and/or 2.1 and/or 2.1.30,
but stayed with the better and higher quality 1.2.5. The guy who
wrote that "Motif sucks", didn't try 1.2.5 probably, which is one
of the cleanest libraries I ever met, contrary to older versions
(especially 1.2.0 and before) or newer (2.*.*). OSF (now The Open
Group) screwed things up and destroyed all of the quality in the
newer versions. Porting my patches to them will be VERY hard, and
I'm not sure that there are enough people who are interested in
it.
In any case, I must spend some good hours to clean my code (from
3rd party's stuff etc.) before releasing it, and when other
projects, some of them much more important, are delayed for very
long times (even more than a year!), I'm not sure I'll have the
time for it (yes, it will be easy to explain it to another one how
to do it, but it will take even more time).
In addition, I'll have to be sure before doing it that such a step
will not cause millions of users to flood me with zillions of
questions.
After many years that the Hebrew issues stopped me from doing
things that I can live from them, I finally felt in the last
months that Motif and other things with unique knoewledge of me,
are going to die, thanks God. Unfortunately, this thing is
threating to return Motif into the center of interest, and to
endanger all the new and exciting achievements that I had in the
last months, so I must be careful.
(If you are curious to know, the Hebrew business not only
prevented me from doing better things, but even cost me much
money, much more than the funny prices I charged for them. But
fortunately, I didn't expand the company, as some of you
suggested, and didn't have to pay salaries, so I survived. And the
best thing that happened to me for years, is the dying of Motif
in the last months)
If anybody is interested to add his "0.02 Cents" tip to me, he is
invited to call me (050-237338). Since I don't have time to
explain so many things in English by e-mail, I'll be much happier
to talk interactively in the phone about these issues.
