retrieve it with `date' and not with `hwclock' (I'm using NTP and syncronizing the time with NTP, then updating the hardware clock can be a pain).
Do you use ntpdate once in a while or do you run the ntp daemon all the time?
If you have an NTP daemon running and connected to the net then give
it a day or two to find your clock's skew, after that it will keep
your system ("gettimeofday(2)") clock as accurate as you can get.--Amos
