doh.   the answer was embarassingly simple   1. make sure you're using the latest version 1.3.1 - you need the rdp5 support 2. you want your XF86Config file to specify:   Option XkbModel "pc102" Option XkbLayout "he" Option XkbVariant "nodeadkeys"   3. Actually the ALT key behave like the Caps Lock key, that mean the 1st press tern in on and the 2nd press tern it off. I got use to it.
