Not only that, but it's X86 only. That kind of makes it less than worthwhile,
after all do you really need an X86 emulator that only runs on X86 processors?

You do not understand - without the module qemu emulates x86 (even on x86), which is why it is much slower than vmware. The proprietary module, as well as the free qvm86 module, is for virtualizing (similar to vmware), which is why it is only useful on x86.
