First, thanks for the answer.
Here is the requested output:
tami:~# fdisk -l /dev/sda

Disk /dev/sda: 512 MB, 512753664 bytes
16 heads, 32 sectors/track, 1956 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 512 * 512 = 262144 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1   *           1        1956      500720    e  W95 FAT16 (LBA)

..As mentioned in the previous message, kernel 2.4.xx recognizes
is as /dev/sda1 and mounts it...
