enable it - to change that i had to edit a ubuntu script. this
script is overridden on update ...
That's just a quick change to the KDM or GDM (whichever you are
running) control file.
/etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
[XDMCP]
Enable=true
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf
[xdmcp]
Enable=true
