Hi , 

I had a similar issue when I checked the wrong board in the IDE (few years ago 
things may have changed). 

Unplug the device , close the IDE , plug it in again and : 

dmesg
ls /dev/serial/by-*

start the IDE again and make sure you choose the correct board.
