If u have problem only with the terminal emulation

U have to run Xconfigurator --expert(i dont remember
the exact thing)and select Some Diamond ?** card.

U have to get some software for playing the video files
in linux. The players supplied with the distribution
r not capable of playing *.dat files.
They play only files of type *.mov . I tried playing also
that but i had the same result.

Read the documentation for the mount command or use
info mount or man mount for mounting any file system.
The command is "mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy"
or just use "mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy"

I dont think u require such software's for linux.

I didn't get u,and here is the answer for what i
understood from ur piece.
I think u have done something wrong with the
X configurator.When u r prompted for the display
configurator check only one setting that is
16 bit color or 24 bit color or some other.
Cause if u select more than one,u will have what u call
virtual screens in linux

bye
vinu.
