I believe that by default, the permissions on the mount and umount
commands are such that only root can run them.  To allow users to
mount/umount do the following:

1) Modify the /etc/permissions.local file and add the following lines to
it.

/bin/mount                             root.root        4755
/bin/umount                            root.root        4755

2) Modify /etc/rc.config and make sure that PERMISSION_SECURITY includes
"local".  For example mine says:

PERMISSION_SECURITY="secure local"

3) Run SuSEconfig to set them permanently.
