hi everyone. i am a linux amateur from mumbai. i have installed RedHat Linux 6.1 on my Pentium-III and made it the primary server of the domain (this domain consists of a linux primary server and a linux workstation). i configured samba on this server successfully. i also have an NT domain on the same network. the NT boxes are able to see this domain. the problem is that when i double-click on this new domain from any NT box, it takes a lot of time to show the machine name. how can i speed this up? one more problem ... as mentioned above, i have another linux box configured as a workstation in this new domain. how do i make it logon to this linux-only domain by using the linux server? for e.g. the linux server machinename is COM7; domain is called DREAMLAND and workstation machine is COM6. so when at the login prompt in COM6, how do i login as a user who is registered with DREAMLAND domain? one more clarification (its the last one) ... what is a NIS server and NIS domain? thankx a lot. bye. ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on the LIH mailing list see: http://lists.linux-india.org/lists/LIH
