>I was able to replace the postmaster on NT
Throw postmaster out into the nearest ditch - it is hopelessly broken.
If you want to install a good MDA (mail delivery agent) for WinNT, try
Mercury (freeware available at http://www.pmail.com/dl - by the author of
Pegasus Mail - David Harris)
>When Send my mails they are going as
>user@linux. xyz.com
>taking a lot of time too
If I understand it correctly you want to send mails as [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
not [EMAIL PROTECTED] - is that right?
If you are using pine, select S (setup) and C (configure). The top field
is "Personal Name" - (edit that to show your name). Just below it there
is a field called sender-domain. Set that as xyz.com
>Also one basic doubt is creating a user account using Userconf utility is sufficient
>or anything else I have to do to
>make it as a pop account .
For this you have to install imap*.rpm (assuming you are using redhat, it
should be in the RedHat/RPMS directory. Issue the command rpm -ivh
imap*.rpm - that's easy.
If your local linux box (lan mailserver) is not connected permanently
(with 24x7 DNS) then best to enable FEATURE('accept_unresolvable_domains')
in /etc/sendmail.mc and rebuild sendmail.cf
If you are using Windows based mail clients, better solution is to use
Eudora Lite as the mail client with chatscripts (like those you use for
fetching mail from vsnl shell accts with eudora lite).
