as i pointed out in my earlier mail, the card itself
may support 24bit by some obscure instructions, thru
the doze driver, but may not have defined a VESA
compatible mode for it. The accelerated server, uses
the device dependant obscure code, to put the card
into the mode (24-bit in u're case).
