If you are tring to telnet from CDE on Digital Unix to Linux, the term type
(decterm) is supported in Linux. There are a whole bunch of Digital term types
on my machine in /usr/share/terminfo/d. The reverse may be a problem - the
console termtype of linux, called linux, might not be supported by Digital
Unix.
The solution? Before telnetting, just execute the command export TERM=vt102
(the ubiquitous term supported by all (?) computers across the world) . You
can use the .telnetrc file also for this.
