Mrinal Kalakrishnan saw fit to inform LI that:

For older versions of mutt (or what the hell, even for this one - I'm
using 1.1.11 now) you can set
set sendmail="/path/to/sendmail -t -oi -oem -f [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
That should help it.
Or else -
folder_hook . '/path/to/sendmail -t -oi -oem -f [EMAIL PROTECTED]'
