Regarding this problem, even I encountered it during instn. of X.
Try adding the following settings ( in case they are not present ) in your
XF86Config file in your /etc/X11 dir.
under the "Device" section round about the last section in the file.
Option "sw_cursor"
Option "no_bitblt"
Option "no_imageblt"
Option "pci_burst_on"
Option "no_accel"
I believe the Options "sw_cursor" "no_bitblt" and "no_imageblt" correct the
error you're getting. As a last resort, try "no_accel"
Also, I don't think changing the default terminal font settings and
colour settings will work. Give it a try anyway.
