Hey!! Just cut the crap if you're not sure. Reinstalling Linux is
*not* something that you should be doing.
It maybe simple for you if you're dual booting win32/linux and that
too from a homepc. But what about people who have servers? If there
is a patch it is to be applied even while the server is running, and
not a full reinstall.

If you want to reinstall KDE and Gnome(though I see no reason why you
should, 'coz u're going to install the same RPMs anyway), just do
rpm -uvh <packagename>

I just want to shoot something ugly at this, but guess I won't.
Instead of getting a new piece of hardware to run u'r outdated
software, is'nt it a better and cheaper option to find out if
new/updated software supports the hardware?? For XF86 < 3.3.6,
SiS6215 and the SiS6326 cards, use the xsis rpm and the added
database from SuSE's site or from the same patches available on PCQ.
Use the no_bitbit and no_imagebit options, also no_accel in
/etc/X11/XF86Config. You should be using XF863.3.6 and above anyway,
if you want better performance from u're SiS cards.
PS: Vivek, as you said, u're just 15. That is all the more reason you
need to tweak software to support the hardware, rather than replace
hardware to meet u're software's requirements. If I sound too
patronising, ~~me offline
-Regards
