trying to set-up a jsp/servelet development environment on Gnu/linux boxes.
1. have downloaded sun's JSDK1.2.2 (blackdown's port) and IBM's JDK1.1.8. one
question though , with JSDK1.2.2 is it necessary to download java servelet
development kit ( jsdk2.0 / jsdk2.1 ) seperately or not ? LDP/How-To and other
sources i found are a bit �utdated'. what with IBM's jdk1.1.8 ?
2. have downloaded apache1.3.12. but already have httpd daemon running when i
start the system. apache documents say to start the apache server after building
it
do $./httpd start
other site's document says: apache start
if i already have one httpd daemon running, is it necessary to stop it, before
building and running apache ? what is the difference between httpd and apche
commands ? is this apache'command some shell-script ?
3. planning to use jakarta/tomcat server. have the tar-ball and believe the
document is also there. bcuz most of my searches for tomcat ended in F-14 tomcat
or tomcat motherboard :o( . any good link/references apart from the
tarball-document which explains the installation and configuration of tomcat ?
4. what's the difference between apache Jserv and jakarta/tomcat ?
