u.s.naganathan hello saw fit to inform LIH that:
>I am able to access the general share on linux machine from Windows domain
>(through samba ).But when I access a share protected by gorup id It pops up
>an logon box .

Did you add the user to the group?

>When I provide it the root (User ID )and pass or any other user ID and pass which is
> valid for that share it pops up a message telling me that "The account is not
> authorised to log in from this station " .

Root logins are usually disabled by default.

>So any solutions

1) Add the users to the group say foogroup
2) Use the parameter "valid users = @groupfoo" in smb.conf
3) Change the directory ownership to groupfoo

This should work.
