After I installed the MySQL server from a directory on my hardisk, by typing
rpm -ivh MySQL-3.22.19a-1.i386.rpm
I am asked set a password for MySQL root user.
However when I run the command:
mysqladmin -u root password <my password>
I get the following error,
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'local host' failed.
error: 'Access denied for user 'root@localhost' (Using password: No)
Could someone let my know why the error occurs and how to successfully
install MySQL.
