so it cant even find /bin/bash hmm... did you move your root partition to
someplace else ? in that case you have to give

root=/dev/hd<your_partition> init=/bin/bash

But i think you have already tried it. In case you dont remember your /
partition you can try out by giving different locations to "root=" option

But simpler would be booting from a cd. First thing after that run
a thorough e2fsck on all the ext2 partitions. Once you locate the root 
partition and its ok you can edit your /etc/fstab. BTW you can use the
virtual console i.e <CTRL><ALT><F1 etc> for all this
