Hi all,
Still I am unable to get X running in my new Debian installation. The
kernel is 2.2.18pre21. I think It supports SVGA. I am able to get x
running with VGA16 only, which has very poor color depth. Xserver_SVGA
is installed in /usr/X11R6/bin/ dir, I comppiled agpgart into kernel
durng install, my m/b is i810 chipset. There was no agpgart in /dev/, so
I created one with mknod, but then, startx says
SVGA: error doing ioctl(GARTIOCINFO) Invalid argument
I don't understand a bit of it. I feel something is basically wrong.
What is it? Existing Debianers with i810 who have got X, sound, etc
working please take time to help me out. I am too eager to get Debian up
and running, (SO I can remove RH & become a full time Debianer).
