Nowadays, whenever I untar any package - even kernels, I get a compression
error - looks like the file is corrupt. But the same thing happens to
all .tar files. Even freshly downlaoded kernels. I downloaded two kernels
two days back, But I am unable to untar it. Half way through, tar exits
with an error. What could be the trouble? I even apt-get install --reinstall
the tar, gzip, make etc from iit madras. But still the same problem.
I am not able to compile my own kernel. Please help.
