This thread is been going for far too long IMO... wouldn't something as
simple as this be enough ...

fetchmail -a -v | grep "expr which occurs when fetchmail rejects" | mail 
[EMAIL PROTECTED] 

and alias and run the above command instead of just running fetchmail ?

and you can check the headers of a mail without downloading it using pop3
... the command is top or something like that.
