i had faced a similar problem but got sorted out after i
reset the cable modem you can try
every time you change the network card/machine connecting the cable modem
you have to reset ...

I have a cable internet connection, I am not able to
connect via linux, earlier it was working.
The network card is working as I am able to ping to
other systems. But via windows xx it works.
