Perhaps I should save them to a different word format e.g. 97 and then try. It should work better. The thing I would prefer is to convert it to rtf, and open using Ted. It works nicely if word doesn't screw up on graphics and header/footer. And you just want to read the file, convert them to html. Limited options but can't really help it.
