As suggested by Sreangsu(I had crossposted it on PLUG too), I checked for IRQ
conflicts and found that. By turning off the 'Assign IRQ to VGA' in BIOS, bring
system much on track. Now I can use this system as desktop.

Now one more show stopper for speed.

There is a process called as kapm-idled which is nicely eating CPU. Somewhere
between 30%-60%. I can conclusively say that it's causing hell of a slowdown and
I am irritated with it, to say the least.

I have no apm service running and APM is disabled in BIOS. I can not kiil that
process it just reappears.

Any idea how can I tell it to go away..
