I tried kernel recompile etc. etc. But tux did not come on startup.
I entered the modelines as well as the Hor. & Vert. Refresh rates of my
Monitor in /etc/vga/libvga.config and enabled the line
chipset VESA
After doing this I get the following :

Here it shows that my bios is VESA 2.0 compliant. :-)
But if I try to run mplayer -vo svga without enabling vesa chipset in
/etc/vga I get the following error :

Check out the above two errors ??
>From SVGAlib docs :
-------- <SNIP> ---------------------------
The error:
Int 0x10 is not in rom (xxxx:xxxx)
is usually caused by running linux using loadlin, after loading a dos tsr
that changes the int 10 vector, or after windows 95, that does the same
thing. The solution, is either to use lilo, or run loadlin after a clean
dos boot.
-------- <SNIP> ---------------------------
I am booting using GRUB. Even tried booting through LILO, but I am still
getting the above error.
I don't understand what is the problem ?
Warm Regards
