doesn't rpm allow you to do just that ??
try a -Uvh... if it gives you errors... and u feel that all the
dependencies are satisfied.. use nodeps and it installs without
complaints!
I managed to upgrade most of the stuff on my rh6.x machine to 7.0 using
the rpms that came with redhat!! yes it complained a lot .. but I was
able to overcome it!
